People Are Tired of Being Marketed To

I don't think people hate businesses or marketing itself. At its core, marketing is really just letting people know what you have to offer. And that, in and of itself, is not bad. However, I DO think people are exhausted by communication that feels constant, forced, and disconnected from real life.

So many organizations feel the pressure to post more, stay visible, follow trends, and constantly compete for attention. And after a while, it all becomes white noise.

And I don't think it's a secret that most people can tell when communication is performative.

You can feel the difference between communication that's trying to build trust and communication that's just trying to compete for attention. The organizations people generally trust usually communicate differently. They sound clear. Consistent. Human. People understand who they are, what they care about, and whom they're trying to help.

In places like Tulsa, where relationships and word of mouth still matter, good marketing absolutely matters. Growth matters. But I think a lot of organizations have been pushed toward creating more content instead of creating better communication.

And those two things ARE NOT the same.

Organizations do not need to say more. They need to communicate more clearly. They need messaging that sounds like an actual person, communication that

people recognize and trust, and space to focus on connection over constantly trying to chase the newest platform.

People REMEMBER organizations that make them feel connected, not organizations that simply manage to constantly shout in their ears.

Friendly Reminder:

  • Consistency over volume

  • Clarity over trend chasing

  • Connection over performance

  • Recognizable voice over constant content
